Occupational Summary
Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure office runs smoothly.
Work Performed
- Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information, and other clinical information as indicated.
- Perform EKGs, cardiac monitor enrollment, application, documentation and billing process
- POC testing for glucose and anticoagulation monitoring
- Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocolsestablished by clinic leadership, and inform provider.
- Participates in performance improvement projects.
- Completing procedural tasks including: administering vaccinations and medications according to protocols and provider orders, specimen collection and correct labeling, assisting with clinic-performed procedures (including EKGs, stress testing, holter monitors, 6- minute walks, orthostatic blood pressures).
- Performs tasks such as set up for clinical procedures, high level disinfection and sterilization or other miscellaneous appropriate tasks within scope of practice.
- Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training
Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
